One of the my favorite quotes about gratitude comes Henri Federic Amiel, a swiss writer known for his Journal intime. He avowed:
“Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.”
I love this quote for its essence. It’s a gentle reminder that our words are only part of the experience equation. How we act and our behavior towards others, is often what is remembered. Maya Angelou stated it best with “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
In a previous blog, I shared ways you can show appreciation and recognize others at work. By putting these simple actions into practice, you can improve your interpersonal interactions and infuse positivity all around you. Simple acts of kindness can be done anywhere. If you have a housemate, you could fold their laundry or put away their dishes to help them out on a crazy day. While driving, you can slow down, smile, and allow that other car to get in ahead of you.
