One of my favorite quotes about gratitude comes Henri-Frédéric Amiel, a Swiss writer known for his Journal intime. He avowed:

“Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.”

I love this quote for its essence. It’s a gentle reminder that our words are only part of the experience equation. Often, people remember us by how we act and our behavior towards them. Maya Angelou stated it best with:

 “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

If you’re not doing so already, take the time to show appreciation and recognize others at work. By putting these simple actions into practice, you can improve your interpersonal interactions and infuse positivity all around you.

Acts of kindness don’t need to be grandiose.

They can be small and meaningful. For example, if you have a housemate, you could fold their laundry or put away their dishes to help them out on a crazy day. While driving, you can slow down, smile, and allow that other car to get in ahead of you.
